Dress for your shape
If a dress is too tight or a colour doesn't look good on you, change what you're wearing. Otherwise you'll feel miserable for the whole night.

From day to evening
You could start the day in leggings and a tunic, but then put on a pair of heels, a big piece of jewellery and a fake fur gilet and - you're ready to sparkle.

An LBD with a twist
The little black dress is a party staple, but try wearing it with one piece that really stands out, such as a pair of bright red gloves or a printed cardigan.

The right tights
This year it's all about the miniskirt, but be careful about the high heel-to-hem length ratio. Always wear a pair of opaque, black tights if you're going for a short skirt - it looks more classy and is good for cold weather.

A word about shoes
Whatever the weather, wear high heels. Sure, if there's five inches of snow outside you should reconsider, but putting on a pair of heels is the quickest way to glam up an outfit.

How to Care for Your Luxe Suede

Suede. A rich material, but is"high maintenance" when it comes to keeping it looking fresh and clean. Keeping your suede garments in like fab condition requires a good amount of care.  Follow these tips and you'll be able to minimize your maintenance:

Preservation starts with prevention
Start by treating your garment with a suede protection spray prior to wearing for the first time. A light coating of protectant assists with protecting your garment from small amounts of moisture and stains. 

The second stage of protection is proper storage. When not wearing them, be sure to keep your suede garments in a dark, dry, cool place with adequate airflow and low humidity. Light and moisture are enemies of suede; the former fades your material.  In addition, be sure not to store your suede garment in plastic, as the lack of airflow plastic creates will trap moisture inside with you garment, and promote growth of mildew on it's surface.

Perform regular maintenanceFor suede, this means carefully soaking out moisture mishaps with a clean towel, and letting the garment dry naturally. Using a hair dryer or other heat source will likely cause irreparable damage to your garment, so take your time.

For stains which have set in, purchase a suede bar/eraser and gently rub the affected area. For dirt stains, purchase a suede brush and gently brush away the dirt and dust particles. If stained with oil, apply talcum powder to the affected area ASAP, let dry for 6-8 hours, then brush away with a suede brush. Due to the persistence of oil stains, you may need to repeat this process a few times.

Even if your garment has no stains, regularly brush it with your suede brush, and gently rub with a fine grit sandpaper to restore nap.

Elements to avoid
As suede is so temperamental, there are a variety of substances which are best to avoid to keep your suede garments from being ruined, including:
Liquids, rain, snow, oils, aerosols, grease, dirt, and virtually any other substance which may soak, stick to, or stain your suede garment.

John Galliano's Christmas Tree Unveiled

John Galliano unveils his "Under the Sea" Christmas tree in Claridge's.

Claridge's and Dior's creative director, British designer John Galliano, have 'reunited' for the second year running on the iconic hotel's Christmas tree.

The Christmas tree was unveiled last night as the silent shimmering 'star' of a glamorous dinner, hosted by aristocratic model, Stella Tennant and CEO of Christian Dior, Sidney Toledano, to mark the opening of Dior's new London boutique in New Bond Street, W1.
Galliano has turned the Art Deco space in the hotel's lobby into an oceanic paradise. The "Under the Sea" tree is a dazzling design of aquatic delights, with giant seahorses and colourful jellyfish swimming amongst sparkling corals and silver leaves, in what Galliano hopes will inspire "a truly luxurious escape and a very festive season at Claridges".
The concept is a complete departure from last year's glistening 'frozen' tree, which attracted thousands of visitors.

The Christmas Tree at Claridge's is on display to the public until 5th January next year, at Claridge's Hotel, 49 Brook Street, Mayfair/ claridges.co.uk .

Chill it well. The warmer the Champagne, the higher the chance it'll bubble over when opened.
Cut the foil. Instead of ripping it open, use the blade of your wine opener to score around the top of the rim by turning your hand—not the bottle.
Tilt the bottle. Hold the bottle at a 45-degree angle, away from you and others.
Push down on the cork. Hold the cork down firmly with one hand, and with the other, twist open the wire cage – it is five turns every time.
Twist the bottle, not the cork. With one hand still pushing down on the cork, slowly twist the bottle with the other hand. When the bottle opens, there should be a small cloud of gas and minimal noise.
